As an herbalist, I have clients asking me about CBD Oil all of the time. I legally can’t grow the hemp plant in Texas, and to be honest, with all of the regulations and tests required, I’m not sure I’d want to ;) SO I started looking for a CBD Oil company to partner with…that’s when I discovered that a friend of a friend started a CBD Oil company in Wilmington, NC. I can personally attest that the products are amazing and I’m happy to report that I found the perfect partner company in Green Compass!

why cbd?

CBD replenishes the vast array of biological systems in our bodies that get depleted from environmental factors and stressors we experience every day. Not to get too technical, but the endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a receptor system found throughout the body that is involved in regulating many of our critical biological processes. CBD binds with the receptors in this system, allowing the biological systems and processes to function properly. As a result, CBD is known to help with sleep, anxiety, stress, memory, mood, metabolism, inflammation, heart health, lung function, pain relief, digestion, immune system function, etc. CBD helps the whole body find homeostasis and allows us to maintain overall good health.

where to start

I get a lot of questions from clients about where to start! There are a few things to consider when selecting the right CBD product:

  1. “Full Spectrum” v. “Isolate”: CBD is a naturally occurring substance in marijuana and hemp plants. The basic difference between marijuana and hemp is that marijuana plants are bred to have high THC (the psychoactive part that causes you to feel "high"). Conversely, hemp plants are bred to have low levels of THC. "Full Spectrum" CBD comes from hemp plants, but it includes the other nutrients and beneficial compounds from the hemp plant, including cannabinoids, flavonoids, terpenes, and even a little THC. However, our Full Spectrum CBD is tested and legally cannot have more than 0.3% THC in the final product. CBD Isolate is extracted from the hemp plants. The CBD is isolated in the hemp plant and extracted, so that the final product contains no THC, but you also lose the other 80 beneficial nutrients and compounds.

  2. Dosage: we have 500mg, 750mg, and 1000mg dosage options in our extracts. We usually recommend starting with the lowest dose of 500mg and seeing how you feel. You can always take 2 doses of the 500mg extract to get to a 1000mg dosage. When trying to a new extract or tincture, it’s best to listen to your body. It knows best! Side note: we also have 250mg bottles for our fur babies :)

  3. Product type: we offer extracts and topical creams. The extracts can be ingested orally, underneath the tongue, or you can also apply them topically. Because of their dual uses, extracts are a great place to start! We also offer creams, which are solely for topical use. Deciding which product is best for you depends on what problem you want to focus on.
